COLONIE LOOKS TO MANAGE SITE NEAR LANDMARK.(CAPITAL REGION)

Colonie The town is negotiating to take over management of a 22-acre site that abuts one of the area's most historic landmarks.

The Open Space Institute has an option to buy the property, which is located along Broadway between Watervliet and Menands, but will only do so if the town agrees to maintain and manage it. So far, town officials said the management plan proposed by the institute looks good.

``I would say it looks optimistic as far as I'm concerned,'' said Town Supervisor Mary Brizzell. ``It's really a very historical piece of property ,and I would like to see it being treated as such.''
