NSW: Sydney to host finance convention in 2006 worth $41 million
Sydney is to host an international financial services convention in 2006.
Sibos is the annual world forum for the European-based Society for Worldwide InterbankFinancial Telecommunications.
Premier BOB CARR says Sibos will inject more than $41 million into the NSW economy.
He says almost half the 3,500 delegates are chief executives, board members or vicepresidents of major world financial institutions, providing unique business and profilingopportunities for the state's financial sector.
Today's announcement follows the prediction last week that Sydney is set to becomethe number one city in the world for holding conventions.
Mr CARR also welcomed today the decision by Swedish financial company OM to open itsAsia-Pacific regional headquarters in Sydney.
